Mexico City is one of the most massive cities in the world. The city itself has a population of 8.84 million, while the metropolitan area officially has 21.2 million (though the real population is likely greater, since there are always people unaccounted for in the slums, etc.). That makes it the largest metropolitan area in the Western Hemisphere, and the largest Spanish-speaking city in the world.
Mexico City has a long history, going back to the Aztecs who founded it in 1325. Being the capital of the Aztec Empire and then the capital of New Spain, it is loaded with archaeological remnants of times long past. This makes it such an interesting city to live for people interesting in culture and history.
You may think that Mexico is always hot, but the capital is located in the central highland plateaus, so it has a cooler climate, with winter low temperatures sometimes dropping fairly low I(though rarely freezing temperatures). Bring a sweater in winter!
Here are a few maps of Mexico City for your reference.
